Koarai is a water dragon who grew up on an island in the Sea of Japan with his mother and step-brother. They were part of a small, peaceful, fishing village. He lived there until he was about twelve when warring clans invaded his home and destroyed his family. His mother was killed and his brother’s remains were nowhere to be seen, giving him hope that maybe his brother, Kojein, was alive somewhere. Barely managing to escape with his life, Koarai left in search of finding his brother and finding a new place to call home.

In his late teenage years, he met a beautiful, fairy dragon, someone he considered the love of his life. He eventually married her and they had twins together. They had a son, Kojeru, and a daughter, Airaniel. The four of them lived together in a cottage amongst a community of other dragons where they made a lot of friends. He and his family were happy.

As time passed, new evidence was brought forward of his brother’s possible whereabouts and he had to make the difficult decision to leave his family in search of Kojein. Years went by and eventually Koarai returned home. In the time he had been away, unable to wait for him any longer, his wife had taken her belongings and left with their daughter. Koarai waited and waited, hoping they would come back. When he eventually realized that they would never return, he was left deeply depressed. He had been convinced that she would wait for him no matter how long it took, but only his son (now an adult) remained.
